About the instructor:

Gabriel Michel Monteiro is a PhD candidate in statistics applied to the life sciences at the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC) in Benin and a fellow at the AIMS Research and Innovation Center as part of the MaModAfrica program. His doctoral research focuses on developing spatial and spatiotemporal Bayesian models to identify malaria hotspots in Benin by jointly analyzing several data streams relevant to malaria transmission, including human malaria incidence, parasite prevalence, and vector abundance.

The overall objective of his work is to contribute to a geographically targeted and resource-efficient approach to malaria control. His doctoral thesis is supported by the Gates Foundation and is supervised by Professor Luigi Sedda (Lancaster University in the United Kingdom) and Professor Luc Salako Djogbénou (UAC).
