Hannah Slater is a Program Advisor at PATH working in both the malaria and diagnostics programs. Her research focuses on using mathematical modeling to estimate the impact of different packages of malaria interventions to inform national malaria program strategic planning, applying analytical methods to assess the impact of programmatic interventions and to inform data-driven intervention targeting, and analyzing the performance of new malaria RDTs in the presence of hrp2-deleted parasites. Hannah is also a member of the AMMnet Governance Committee.

Shakira Babirye, is a Senior Biostatistician at the Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) in Kampala, Uganda, and Vice President of the AMMnet Uganda Chapter. Specializing in clinical epidemiology and infectious disease modeling, she transforms complex clinical and other health-related datasets into actionable malaria control strategies. Her work with the Program for Resistance, Immunology, Surveillance, and Modeling of Malaria (PRISM) drives evidence-based decisions through tools like the Uganda Malaria Surveillance Program (UMSP) malaria surveillance dashboard, monitoring incidence and antimalarial drug use. Shakira advances AMMnet’s mission by leading workshops, fostering collaboration, and mentoring malaria researchers. Her expertise in predictive modeling, machine learning, and data visualization (using R, Python, Power BI) optimizes malaria interventions. Beyond AMMnet, she mentors in AI-driven public health, contributes to The Global Health Network’s Data Science Working Group, and serves on the Climate Sensitive Infectious Diseases (CSID) Network’s Training and Education Committee, advancing malaria research as a climate-sensitive infection.

Caitlin BEVER is Principal Scientist and Senior Research Manager of the malaria team at the Institute for Disease Modeling at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Her team uses simulation and data analysis to support decision-making that accelerates progress and reduces disease burden on the road to eradication. In AMMnet, Caitlin leads the Connecting Committee and is a member of the Governance Committee.

Nadège SONHAFOUO CHIANA is a Medical Entomologist at the Organization for the Coordination of the Fight Against Endemic Diseases in Central Africa (OCEAC) in Yaoundé, Cameroon. She has a particular interest in the biology, genetics and genomics, the causes and consequences of insecticide resistance, and the control and elimination of vector-borne diseases. She is one of the key founders of the Cameroon AMMnet Regional Chapter, where she serves as Main Secretary and Communications Officer. She has also been one of the key founders of the Cameroon PAMCA Regional Chapter for over 5 years, where she is in charge of Communication and Logistics. She is an active member of numerous other major organizations, including: PAMCA Africa, PAMCA WiVC, Women in Malaria, Higher Women Consortium, African Genetic Biocontrol Consortium and MalariaGEN. Nadège is a member of the AMMnet Career Development Committee, Learning Committee and Connecting Committee.

Luc S. DJOGBENOU is a Professor in Parasitology at the University of Abomey Calavi in Benin. From 2010 to 2012, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in the UK, where he is currently an Honorary Fellow Staff. Since 2012, he has worked to establish the Tropical Infectious Diseases Research Center and assumed the position of Deputy Director in 2020. He was appointed Director of the Institut Régional de Santé Publique at the same University in October 2021. He is also the Chair of the AMMnet Career Development Committee and a member of the Governance Committee.

Cherlynn Dumbura is an Associate Research Scientist in Data Science at the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV AIDS Research, Zimbabwe (CeSHHAR). She is currently working in maternal and child health with a focus on the effects of climate change in sub-Saharan Africa. She is a Research Fellow on the PRECISE study (Health-Geography lab) and a Data Scientist on the HE2AT Center Research Project. Cherlynn is interested in how climate change is linked to diseases including vector habitat migration and expansion with respect to malaria. She has a passion for administration, learning, sharing knowledge, and uses these skills with her role on the AMMnet Board, contributing to the Finance and Connecting Committees and the Local Chapter Development Task Force.

Dr. Mor Absa LOUM is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Iba Der Thiam University of Thies, Senegal, specializing in biostatistics and infectious disease modelling. Dr. LOUM previously obtained a master and a PhD in applied mathematics and modelling at Paris-Saclay University before a 3-year postdoc in modelling of the genetic variant effects on neurodevelopmental disorders at Montreal University (Sainte-Justine research center, Sébastien Jacquemont Lab). He has led impactful research and capacity-building initiatives, particularly in malaria modelling at Thies University through the WAMCAD project and faculty enrichment program. He has collaborated on international projects, mentored upcoming public health professionals, and published widely in peer-reviewed journals. His work focuses on training modelers and supporting policymaker decisions through modelling interventions effectiveness. Mor is a member of the AMMnet Board, serves on the Local Chapter Development Task Force and has served on the Annual Meeting Planning Task Force.

Justin is a Research Scientist at PATH focusing on geospatial modeling and data science on the Malaria and NTDs team. Justin is originally from Michigan, USA. He completed his PhD at the University of Florida and was a post-doc with the Malaria Atlas Project before joining PATH. Justin formerly chaired the AMMnet Data & Technical Resources Committee, which has now joined the new Best Practices Committee where he is Co-Chair. He also leads the AMMnet Hackathon series. Outside of work Justin enjoys running and hiking with his dog.

Christophe Antonio NKONDJIO is a Senior Researcher at the Organization for the Coordination of the Fight Against Endemic Diseases in Central Africa (OCEAC) based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. His primary research focus is on malaria vectors, but he also works on arbovirus and Human African Trypanosomiasis vectors. His vision is to contribute to vector borne diseases elimination through capacity building and innovation. He has been doing this work for over ten years as a board member of the Pan African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA) and as the acting President of PAMCA Cameroon chapter. He is Vice President of the AMMnet Cameroon Chapter, a member of the AMMnet Governance Committee and serves on the Local Chapter Development Task Force.

Emilie Pothin, PhD, is leading the Analytics and Intervention Modelling group at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and affiliated with the Clinton Health Access Initiative. She has a background in mathematical modeling and epidemiology of malaria. Her research combines the use of mathematical models and statistical methods to simulate transmission dynamics, estimate its intensity, and apply these results to improve malaria control and elimination. She uses modelling to generate evidence for strategic planning of malaria control strategies involving combinations of established and new interventions. The focus of her work is to provide support to national malaria programs in countries by simulating impact of malaria interventions in given settings. Emily is also a member of the AMMnet Finance, Governance and Learning Committees.

Dr. Susan Rumisha, from Tanzania works at the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) in Perth, WA, Australia, and is affiliated with the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She’s deeply passionate about utilizing advanced geospatial analytical frameworks to enhance evidence-based decision-making approaches in malaria control and strengthening malaria-health systems. Susan is a member of the AMMnet Board, Governance Committee and serves on the Local Chapter Development Task Force.
